Case name:
TaskRabbit Drip-Pricing and Travel Time Charges
Quebec Superior Court file #:
500-06-001395-256
What this case is about:
Plaintiff alleges that TaskRabbit engages in the illegal practice of “drip-pricing”, by displaying a lower price at the first few steps of its purchase process, but then deceptively adding on what it calls a “Trust & Support Fee” – which is a mandatory fee. This hidden (and mandatory) fee is nothing but an additional service fee. Accordingly, TaskRabbit’s practice is contravention of both the Quebec Consumer Protection Act, and Canada’s Competition Act.
Additionally, TaskRabbit also engages in the illegal practice – which violates its own policies and terms of use – of charging for its taskers’ travel time.

On 14 July 2025, the original class action authorization application was filed in the Superior Court of Quebec, district of Montreal. On April 24, 2026, the Court heard a request filed by a B.C. resident, Kris Mangion, who filed a request to intervene in the Quebec class action. The parties await the Court’s judgment that will be published below once rendered. Additionally, TaskRabbit filed a motion to suspend the Quebec class action, which the Plaintiff is vigorously contesting. Updates will be provided on this page once a judgment is rendered.
