Desjardins Identity Theft Class Action

On June 20, 2019, the Fédération des caisses Desjardins du Québec admitted publicly that the personal data of 2.9 million of its members (including personal and business accounts) was stolen and shared by one of its employees to third parties. The information that was compromised includes members’ names, addresses, birth dates, social insurance numbers, email addresses and information about their transaction habits;
This class action seeks monetary compensation for Class members, as well as punitive damages in the amount of $300 each.
All natural and legal persons affected by the Desjardins data breaches reported on June 20, 2019;
Remedies sought for consumers
- Reimbursement of a portion of the monthly service fees and the “part de qualification” membership fee paid by Class members;
- Punitive damages in the amount of $300 per class Member.
